When it comes to looking good while doing your workout or dance class, you don’t get much better than yoga pants and leggings. Getting a new workout outfit is a great way to get motivated for getting back to dance class, yoga, or gym.

The key difference between yoga pants and leggings is the thickness of the fabric. Yoga pants are made from thicker fabric that is non-translucent. Leggings are made from thinner fabric and are more translucent, sometimes to the point of being almost see-through.

The wool and cotton help to make the pants soft and breathable. And the nylon, lycra, and polyester helps to make the pants stretchy so that the wearer can do their yoga poses such as the Downward-Facing Dog with ease. Plus you can even find yoga pants made of fabrics that can reduce odor and move sweat away from the skin (also known as moisture-wicking)!

Yoga pants can be very form-fitting but you can also get yoga sweatpants, yoga shorts, yoga capris, and wide-leg yoga pants so there various types available.

What Are The Significant Features Of Leggings?

Leggings are a stretchy garment that is worn over the legs. They have an elasticated waistband and typically sit at the waist and go down to the ankles just like yoga pants. Although, you can get leggings that go down to just past the knee or the calf area. Leggings are always form-fitting and are usually made from fabrics such as nylon, polyester or cotton/elastane, or viscose/elastane blends.

These days you can get faux leather, PVC, or even glittery leggings. And you can also get runners leggings and gym leggings which are perfect to exercise in because they’re comfortable, opaque, breathable, and offer odor control and moisture-wicking. There are even compression leggings on the market which help to increase blood flow, reduce muscle fatigue and reduce swelling!

When Should You Choose Yoga Pants Over Leggings?

You should absolutely choose yoga pants over leggings when you’re practicing yoga because that is what these pants were designed for! Yoga sweat pants or wide-leg yoga pants are also a good choice for those who want to wear something comfortable when exercising, lounging, or running errands but don’t want to wear something that is ultra form-fitting.

When Should You Choose Leggings Over Yoga Pants?

You should choose leggings over yoga pants when going to the gym, running, or engaging in any exercise where you’ll be moving around a lot or your inner thighs will be rubbing together. This is because leggings can offer support whilst still allowing you to move around freely plus seamless leggings can help to prevent chaffing.

And for those who want to show off the body or want a garment that will sculpt the body then leggings are the better choice over yoga pants because you can get leggings that are literally like a second skin!
