How To Stop Bra Straps Falling Off Your Shoulders

Ask any girl what her biggest lingerie related irritation is and I am sure that falling bra straps will be the first response. While many of us face this same issue at some time during our lives, the reasons for our falling bra straps will be different.

What causes bra straps to fall off your shoulders?

  1. You haven’t adjusted your straps recently.
  2. Your bra cup has become too big.
  3. Your bra band is too big.
  4. You have narrow shoulders.
  5. You have sloping shoulders.

Let’s take a look at each of these reasons and give you a solution to each one.

1. You haven’t adjusted your straps recently

When you buy a brand new bra the straps are set at a standard length. Most of the bras come with adjusters to help you get a better fit.

The most obvious mistake that many women often make is assuming that the factory adjusted the straps to their exact size.

Even if this is true when the bra is new, all it takes is a couple of washes and your straps are likely to lose their elasticity. That will result in them falling off your shoulders.

Also, the straps can and do move very slightly in the adjusters when the straps are under tension resulting in the straps working loose over time.

I suggest that you adjust them every month.

2. Your bra cup has become too big

Ideally, you should measure your bra size once every 6 months.

Age, hormonal fluctuations, and weight loss all can result in a reduction of your breast volume. This will create extra space in your bra cups making the straps not sit correctly on your shoulders and will fall off every now and then.

If you love that bra, but your weight loss has made the cups too big, then all a pair of breast inserts.

3. Your bra band is too big

Even if you have a slighter bigger cup size, it won’t be as important as when you have a larger underbust band as well.

If you have picked a bra with a band size that is too big for you, it means that most likely that the shoulder straps will keep slipping because they are set far apart for your frame.

4. You have narrow shoulders

We don’t all have the same body frame. You may be one of those girls who have narrow shoulders and that limits the styles of bras you can wear.

For example, something like a balconette bra with wide-set straps would not work at all. Instead, switch to racerback bras as that will help you get rid of the problem.

Also, I find racerback bras very comfortable and supportive.

5. You have sloping shoulders

This is very similar to when you have narrow shoulders, sloping shoulders may make many kinds of bra straps slip down the slope.

One way to get them in place is by using a bra converter ring. It’s a plastic ring that holds both your bra straps together and doesn’t let them misbehave. Though it will just be much easier to wear a racerback bra and be comfortable.
