I know that Candace wrote her post during the lockdowns, and listed her “5 things to do” so that we could maintain our mental health during those uncertain times. Although the lockdowns are over, we are still in uncertain times for many reasons. This is why the 5 tasks that Candace listed are just as relevant today as they were during the lockdowns. The one item on her list that needs a small adjustment because of the shift in times is to limit our consumption of mainstream media news to 15 minutes per day – maximum. I remember an interview with a program director from CNN during the lockdowns where he stated that “fear sells.” The more fear they can generate, the longer they can keep people tuned to their news broadcasts, and consequently, the more money they make. He said that every newscast would always lead with whichever story could elicit the biggest fear response. People who are afraid can be more easily controlled and made to follow a cultural norm even if it goes against their inner truth. Over-exposure to the negative fear-inducing news that is pushed on us by all the mainstream news networks can have the effect of pulling us down, sapping our girly creative energy. You remain cautious but certainly don’t panic. You prepare, but you don’t hoard. You live. That’s definitely something to remember! You live, even if it’s under confined restrictions for the well-being of the whole. In my “living” I can honestly say that I’ve been able to maintain some girliness and girly growth, but nothing extra special. As with almost anything these days, there’s a lull in my daily girly expression or even progress (if you can call it that). There’s a lot of uncertainty, confusion, and questions all around us. All of that can bomb out a person’s vitality, even more so if there is a special part of them that needs some freedom of expression or feeling. So, to keep from feeling down, maybe even depressed, I’d like to suggest five brief things you should do daily as a girly boy/gym bunny. 1) Get Your Pantied Butt Out of Bed: Don’t oversleep in your cute little nighty. You need to get up and start your day. 2) Workout in Your Best Girly Workout Clothes: Instead of dull colors, put on your brightest and cutest. No half measures. Panties, sports bras, leggings, tanks, girly sneakers, etc. 3) Shower, Shave, Pamper: If anybody understands this, girly boys do. Feel smooth and smell girly. Pamper yourself like a cis-girl would. 4) Dress it Up: You can wear something to help you feel girly. The key above anything else is to be in fresh, clean, clothes. It gives you a sense of wellness. 5) Plan Your Daily Well-Being: This means diet, both food and information. You need some healthy and balanced meals for the day. You need lots of water. You need education, entertainment, and news. Keep the virus news to 15 minutes. No more. And study more about femininity. These are my daily practices: Get up, work out, clean up, dress up, and plan it out. All of these are done with intent toward my girly self. I hope they can help you.
