5 Solutions to Prevent Your Strapless Bra from Slipping Down

I am sure that many of you can relate to this. You are wearing that gorgeous strapless dress that you love so much. Maybe you have even needed to shed a couple of lbs just to fit into it properly. Unfortunately, it feels like you spend the whole party hiding behind a friend trying to lift your bra back up under your dress without anyone noticing. This is not the elegant look you were hoping for.

Why does your strapless bra fall down?

  1. Your bra band is too narrow
  2. Your bra is too loose
  3. Your bra is worn out
  4. Your bra has no rubber lining inside the band
  5. Your outfit is wrong for your bra choice

Luckily, we have a few tricks that you can use to pull off your sexy strapless outfit today. But first, you will want to make sure you know why your strapless bra is falling down by checking the following 5 problems and solutions. Keep reading till the end for a gorgeous bonus tip.

Your Bra Band Is Too Narrow

You may not want those visible bra straps, but you do need their support.

So when you take them away, something needs to compensate to keep your bra up and that is your bra’s band.

If your bra is falling down, it might be that the band is too narrow, so try a wider band that will make up for the support of those missing straps. The wider the band, the greater the friction between the band and your skin which will help keep your bra from slipping down.

Your Bra Is Too Loose

A strapless bra functions differently than your regular bra, and that means you need to size it a little differently. Decrease the number from your usual band size than you wear normally. For example, if you normally wear a 34 band, your strapless bra should be a 32.

That will give you the tighter band to help keep your strapless bra up.

Your Bra Is Worn Out

One factor to remember if you did buy a smaller-than-normal strapless bra but after a couple of months of use it has started falling down anyway. It could simply be that your strapless bra is worn out. Keeping the elastic at a tighter tension will wear your bra out faster.

So, therefore, the right thing for you to do is to make sure that when you buy your bra, buy one that fits you on the very last row of hooks.

That way when your bra starts to become a little loose after a while, you can extend its life by moving on to the next, tighter, set of hooks. That way you can keep the support you need. Just keep moving inward along the hook rows until the day comes when it is finally time to say goodbye to your bra.

Your Bra Has No Rubber Lining Inside The Band

This is very important. That rubber and/or silicone lining on your strapless bra is what grips your skin and keeps it up.

So make sure you always look for one that has that rubber lining.

Your Outfit Is Wrong For Your Bra Choice

Ladies, let’s be a little bit realistic here. The reality is that if we wear an outfit that’s tight above our chest but is loose and/or flowing everywhere else, we are doomed for a wardrobe malfunction.

This deprives your strapless bra of the additional support it needs. When you want to go strapless and these other tips somehow still aren’t working, consider going a little tighter to have your outfit give your bra support of its own.

Be sure to try these tricks next time you wear a sexy off-the-shoulder top or dress and see which ones work for you.

Bonus Tip

Something else that is superb at stopping your strapless bra from being able to slip down is if you wear an under-bust corset. If your corset overlaps your bra’s band a little there is no way that your bra will be able to slip down.

The alternative would be to wear an over-bust or demi-cup corset and forgo the strapless bra completely. And I can assure you, wearing a corset feels both feminine and very sexy.
