5 Hacks To Stay Dry When You Wash Your Face

I am sure that it comes as no surprise that washing your face morning and night is an absolutely essential part of your daily beauty routine. Sometimes it seems as though it’s nearly impossible to do so neatly while thoroughly removing every trace of your cleanser.

I am sure that more than once your bathroom has almost looked like a crime scene with all of the splashed water around your sink. When we factor in your wet shirt and hair, it is an absolute mess.

If you have been wondering how to master this essential part of your skincare, read on for our tips on how to wash your face without getting your hair and shirt/blouse wet.

Use A No-Rinse Cleanser

If you thought you had to rinse your cleanser off with water, think again. No-rinse cleansers are a thing.

Simply cleanse, and that’s it. You don’t even have to be in the bathroom, you can sit at your makeup vanity.

Combine micellar cleansing water with cleansing towelettes. These are a must-have when traveling too.

Put  Your Hair Up

What about if you don’t have access to use a no-rinse cleanser or don’t want to use it for whatever reason? For me, no-rinse cleansers are almost exclusively for when I am traveling.

The good news is that I have tips for that, too.

For starters, put your hair up. The easiest way to avoid wet hair when washing your face is to get your hair out of the way of the water.

Pull your hair into a high, messy bun so it won’t be hanging in the sink. It is a simple solution so that you don’t need to worry about getting your hair wet now.

If you have shorter face-framing layers or bangs, then use hair clips, bobby pins, or a non-slip headband to keep your hair out of harm’s way and dry.

Wear A Towel Or Two

Use a towel to guard your shirt/blouse and another for your hair. Wrap one around your shoulders, allowing it to drape over the front of your shirt. Feel free to clip it at the back with a claw clip, so you don’t have to stress about it moving while you wash your face.

You can also use a towel to protect your locks by throwing them into a towel turban just as you would after hopping out of the shower.

Here is a link to the article that I wrote that teaches you exactly how to tie a towel turban.

Use Two Scrunchies

Here is a beauty hack that will absolutely blow your mind.

I bet that when you saw scrunchies that I would be talking about tying your hair up, but we’ve covered that in the first two hacks. This is completely different.

You will need two scrunchies, preferably towelling-like scrunchies.

Before you start washing your face, slip a scrunchie around each of your wrists.

If you are like me and water always flows down your arms and gets your sleeves wet while you wash your face, this simple trick is a total lifesaver.

The scrunchies will catch the water and keep you from soaking the sleeves of your shirt/blouse.

Remove the scrunchies after you have washed your face and leave them to dry near the sink so that they are ready for next time.

Take  Your Time

The key thing for avoiding water getting everywhere is to take your time when washing your face.

When you are in a rush, it is all too easy to splash water everywhere. The only problem with that is you will spend way too much time cleaning up the mess you’ve made. Rushing will end up using even more time when you factor in your clean-up.

Bend down low to the sink, and gently use your hands to cup water, and rinse your face little by little.

I know it will make your initial process longer, but it will keep the time-consuming and completely unnecessary aftermath from occurring in the first place.

Taking the time to cleanse and wash your face properly is an activity that stirs up feelings of femininity within us. Rushing things increases stress and denies you that important emotional aspect.
