The Grass is Greener

We all know the expression of the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. When it comes to our girly journey it can easily lead us to comparing ourselves to others and start feeling bad about ourselves.

By way of example, there is a girl I used to run with regularly until about 6 months ago. Last week I bumped into her at the fresh produce farmers market. She looked lean, fit, and even suntanned in the middle of winter. I started comparing my fitness level to hers because she looked so fit and she’d obviously been doing way more miles than I had. However, the truth was that she’d been going through a divorce and was running 3 hours a day to try and cope with her inner pain.

So, my lesson from that experience was that the grass might be greener on the other side of the fence when we look at things on just one level but we have no idea of the struggles behind the scenes that went into creating that greener grass. Maybe you are about to start HRT or have just started. Even though other girls who are at 2 or 3 years of HRT might look more femme than you, you have no idea of the struggles they have faced on their journey.

Sure, look at the greener grass on the other side of the fence, but don’t let it distract you from your journey. It is your path to walk and only you can walk your path. Hugs.

I was raised with the motto, “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”  There were many other mottos that I could have also thrown into the mix, but this one is at the top.  Life appears to be better on another person’s lawn.  Yeah, I get that.  I’m sure you do too.

But what if the grass is actually greener?  What if being a girl would be better, at the very least, to be girlier?  What do you think is “greener” about being a girl?  Let me know.

As always, I love you, my girly friends!  You are special.  Never believe less than that.

I stay in shape by trail running. When I am not writing posts to help you be as feminine as you can be, I work as a therapist.
