Release Your Inner Bohemian In A Maxi Skirt

If you are anything like me you will absolutely love your maxi skirts. I love the feel of the soft, comfortable fabric against my legs.

I usually wear a maxi skirt on the day I go to the salon to have my legs waxed. It gives my legs coverage before the appointment and is non-abrasive for after. Plus the feeling of the soft maxi skirt swishing against my freshly waxed legs fills me to the brim with sublime feminine feelings.

A maxi skirt is an ankle-length skirt that usually made from soft, flowing fabric. Maxi skirts are perfect for shorter women as they give the appearance of a taller frame. Maxi skirts feel wonderful against your legs as you walk.

Keep reading to find out all about the maxi skirt and why you need a few maxi skirts in your wardrobe.

What Are The Significant Features Of A Maxi Skirt

A maxi skirt is a floor-length skirt and can be made of a wide variety of materials. These skirts can vary from very casual to very dressy. They are considered extremely versatile as they can be worn for work, formal wear, very casual, to streetwear. Many girls enjoy wearing this type of skirt as it flows when they walk and provides a great deal of comfort and coverage. They are attractive garments for women of all ages. A maxi skirt is a timeless and classy piece of fashion.

What Are The Origins Of Maxi Skirts?

The maxi skirt became popular alongside the mini on the streets of Paris and New York in 1966. It was introduced on the runways in 1967. The maxi skirt has been established in the mainstream since the 1970s and is still in style today.

The real boom in the fashion of long skirts began in 2012. It is considered a trend of street fashion. Women were expected to be covered fully in the early 1900s and were known to wear long skirts with corsets. These days women have the luxury of wearing the maxi skirt which is both very comfortable and stylish.

What Figure/Body Shape Is Best Suited To Maxi Skirts?

Maxi Skirts look fantastic on a woman with a triangle-shaped figure. Most women with this figure have a wider hip and thigh area and these skirts help to make this area look much slimmer. They also look good on rectangle body shapes.

They also look excellent on a shorter woman as the maxi skirt gives the appearance of a taller frame. The maxi skirt is versatile because it can be worn either low or high on the waist. Of course, it is a personal preference, but a maxi skirt will also cover the complete leg area if this is desired for personal reasons.

If you have an inverted triangle body shape then consider wearing a layered maxi shirt or a volume-enhancing underskirt

Which Kinds Of Tops Can You Pair With Maxi Skirts?

The possibilities are almost endless when you are deciding which top to pair with your maxi skirt. You could wear a sweater, a button-down blouse, or your favorite basic. If your skirt is high-waisted, a crop-top is an excellent choice. A trendy street style look could include wearing a suede or leather jacket with your skirt. My personal favorite look is to wear a solid pastel maxi skirt paired with an off-the-shoulder white tee or a minimal graphic tee. When I wear a floral or printed skirt I usually choose a white crop top or a boxy white tee.

What Shoes Work Best With Maxi Skirts?

When it comes to deciding what shoes to wear with your maxi skirt, you should try to consider your height and the occasion. Flats like sandals or ankle boots look great during the day or pair with heels or wedges for a dressier night look. Chunky heels, ankle straps, stilettos, strappy sandals, Gladiator sandals, and thong sandals all look fantastic with a Maxi Skirt! This skirt has so many varieties when it comes to color, print, and material that I would say it is a lot of fun playing with all of the diverse combinations with this style.
