Positive Movement

Some people have the misconception that being girly makes you less than you were before. The mindset is that you give up a valuable part of yourself in order to become girly. We both know that this line of thinking is clearly false.

The girly aspect of your life has always been there. It has just been suppressed by what you perceived to be outside expectations for way too long. By allowing your girliness some expression you are adding to who you were before. When you were suppressing your girly self it was like you were going through life with one hand tied behind your back. Now it is as if you have freed yourself to use both hands and that can only be a net positive.

This post was created by the talented Candie Hart and originally appeared on her Tumblr blog. It is reproduced here with her kind permission. Be sure to check out more about Candie at the end of the post and give her some Pink Femme love.

There are many who reduce boys being feminine as a reduction of humanity.  I get it.  There’s a bit of eroticism to the feeling of humiliation.  That’s a fetish way of thinking of it.  In reality, it’s just not the best way to think of it.  All kinks aside, each to his or her own of course, I want to say that my girliness or your girliness is a positive movement for self.  It’s not degrading.  To me, that degrades women and is just another aspect of toxic masculinity.

Being feminine isn’t about becoming “less than”.  It’s a way of becoming more.  That doesn’t mean that being feminine as a male means that you’re “more than” your masculine self.  It’s just more.  You’re adding to your humanity.  You’re adding to your being.  You’re adding to your personality.  You’re bringing out something positive about yourself that many would say that you need to keep in.  So, yes!  I think that chasing girliness is positive.  It’s an enhancement because it’s nurturing and growing beyond one’s status quo.

I’m not feeling the chattiness today as I normally do, so I’m going to leave it at that.  I hope you feel positive about your femininity and not as if it’s a degrading wish.

I stay in shape by trail running. When I am not writing posts to help you be as feminine as you can be, I work as a therapist.
