If you had to sit down and have a conversation about why dressing girly is the way you want to dress.
One obvious reason is that girly clothing is softer and more comfortable. But those feelings of comfort go a lot deeper than the feeling of fabric on your skin.
Those tactile feelings connect with the femme essence within you and make you feel “at home” when dressed femme. This is also the reason why dressing drab can feel so awkward – it clashes with who you truly are.

I can still remember the conversation with my wife. The first answer was, “I really don’t know.” The further she probed, it was, “It’s comfortable.” I mean that to say that dressing in girls’ clothing is comfortable to me. It feels good. It’s not merely exotic, forbidden, or sexual, though there are aspects of that as well. But mostly, it’s just as I explained to my wife on that day when we finally sat down and had “the chat.” It’s comfortable.
Does it need to be more than that? It’s comfortable. Some women would disagree, I’m sure. Women’s clothing is softer. It’s silkier. It fits. Take shoes for example. Men’s shoes are clumpy. They’re generally not comfortable. For me, they’re often too wide and too bulky. Or underwear? Or shirts? Don’t get me started on shirts. Or pants? Or jackets? Men’s clothing is meant to cover. Women’s clothing is meant to enhance. I know there are exceptions either way, but generally speaking, women’s clothing excels exponentially over men’s. It’s comfortable.
But it’s more than the fit. The colors, seams, cut, patterns, and variety; the ability to mix and match are unlimited. Dress up, dress casual, dress spunky, dress sexy, dress funky, dress fun, dress happy, dress sad, dress slouchy, dress pretty, dress stiff, dress bright, dress dull, dress down, dress up, dress however you wish, and accent it with more options than a bartender could offer. Men’s wear lacks significantly in diversity. Women’s wear for the win. I find comfort in my options of dressing girly.
Even more, girly clothing fits my personality–my deep and true personality. Before I offer these thoughts, I know that 1) boys can be these too, and 2) society has placed these stereotypes on women. I know that and I mean no disregard to either of those thoughts. Here you go: I’m a lover of people, I’m a nurturer, I’m kind, compassionate, tender, and gentle. I’m extremely hospitable, love to host, serve, and bring a smile to someone’s face. I adore kids, I’m creative, imaginative, and artsy. I love theater, dance, and poetry.
Maybe society has placed these “norms” on women to such a high degree that I just feel like I fit within that box better? Again, I know the faults to what I just said. I’m sharing with you. That’s all. don’t think I’m making a statement about gender norms. A N Y W W A Y, being girly just fits and the clothing that often represents that fit is comfortable to me.
Do you have time for one more? Evidently, I do. It’s comfortable because it’s my peace. I’m “at home” when I’m dressed girly. I’m not out of touch with myself. I’m not disconnected. There is harmony and intersection of my mind, heart, and strengths. If our entire being is like patches of cloth work, my perfect quilt is covered with lace, ribbons, and bows instead of burlap and duct tape.
Have a beautiful day my girly friends. I hope you’re able to have some time in the comfort of your own girliness. Wish the same for me, please
