Let’s be honest with ourselves, we all want to smell good all day. The tricky part is mastering the way to make your girly fragrance last all day. How to always smell good is often easier said than done.
How to smell good all day long? Freshly washed skin and hair hold fragrance better. Layer your fragrances beginning with scented body lotion, then deodorant, and top-off with perfume in your pulse points of neck, wrists, inner elbows, and backs of knees. Spritz some perfume on your hairbrush too. Brush your teeth after each meal.
There is certainly more to the process than swiping on some deodorant as you tumble out of bed and hoping it will last.
Your day will be filled with obstacles that will challenge your body’s ability to smell your best. Maybe lunch is delicious though heavy on the garlic. Perhaps you’ve got your regular gym class and work up a really good sweat.
All of these make it more difficult to smell your girly best for hours on end. Here are some feminine beauty tips that will have you smelling good all day.
Wash Regularly
Maintaining proper hygiene is vital to ensure that you smell good.
The buildup of impurities and oils that linger on your skin has a distinct scent that comes with it. It is not the aura that a lady would have around her and neither should you.
Irrespective of whether you’re a fan of showers or baths, you must make sure that you wash your skin from head to toe as part of your regular beauty routine.
Use Scented Lotion
I know that perfume is key to smelling your girly best. However, it isn’t the only way to smell girly, and there is a better way to have a lasting scent.
In fact, moisturizing with a scented lotion before you apply your perfume can actually help amplify your fragrance.
Be sure to look for scented body lotion and moisturizer. My moisturizing body lotion has a honey-inspired fragrance that enhances my perfume rather than clashing with it.
Boost Your Perfume
Now let’s talk about perfume we were talking about. Instead of simply spritzing some perfume before heading out the door, you want to enhance your perfume. That way it lasts and smells its strongest.
You often see women rubbing their wrists together after spraying perfume. Don’t do that. The friction from rubbing your wrists creates enough heat to change the fragrance notes of your perfume. Instead, dab your wrists against each other if you can’t wait for your perfume to air-dry.
All perfume will change fragrance as it blends with your skin. So use this trick when you go shopping. Go to the fragrance counter first and test the fragrances you are considering.
Then do the rest of your shopping before returning to the fragrance counter. That way you can be sure to get the perfume that smells the best on you when it has dried and blended with your skin.
Apply Perfume In More Than One Place
Depending on where you will be going, where you apply your perfume makes a big difference. Yes, you should apply perfume to more than just your neck. I always apply perfume to my wrists and dap a little behind each ear.
There are actually other areas you can apply perfume that you may have never thought about like your elbows and behind your knees. On hot summer days, you can spray some perfume on your ankles, especially if you are prone to slightly sweaty feet.
If there is a slight breeze you can spritz some perfume into your hair so that it can waft on the breeze as you walk by.
Don’t Skip On The Deodorant
Every one of us builds up a sweat throughout the day to some degree. When you do, you usually end up with a bit of an odor. Luckily, that’s what deodorant is for.
Whether you like to work out like I do or not, opt for either a regular or natural deodorant. The choice is yours, but this is one step you should never skip.
Think About Your Hair
Just as your skin can have a buildup of sweat, dirt, and oils that can cause odor, so can your hair.
That’s why it’s important to keep your hair clean and fresh. You don’t necessarily have to wash your hair every day. An alternative is to spritz your hair some dry shampoo and give your hair a fresh and clean smell.
Aside from dry shampoo, something that I do is spritz some perfume onto my hairbrush, then when I brush my hair I can add fragrance to my hair during a workday.
Keep Your Clothes Fresh
Your body and hair are not the only factors to consider when determining how to smell good all day. Your clothes make a difference as well.
Next time you find yourself digging through dirty laundry for a half-decent pair of jeans, there’s a pretty good chance they won’t smell their best.
Take the time to wash your clothes. When you do your laundry, look for detergents that have a scent you enjoy. The scent of your detergent will likely stick around once your clothes are clean so make sure it is as feminine as you are.
Like your hair, you can also spritz your clothes with some perfume to help give them a pleasant fragrance.
Pop A Mint
Don’t forget about taking care of your breath.
I am sure you are well-versed in the ritual of brushing your teeth twice a day. Brushing after every meal is even better.
Certain foods that you eat throughout the day, like the garlic we mentioned earlier and your morning cup of coffee, can leave a lasting impression on your breath that may be less than the most ideal.
So, keep mints and gum on-hand for when your breath needs refreshing.
On more than one occasion in an Italian restaurant I have asked for a sprig of parsley to chew on at the end of the meal as it neutralizes the garlic on my breath.
Reapply As Needed
No matter how much you may want it to, your scent won’t be able to last forever.
You will need to refresh your fragrance more than once during the day to stay smelling your feminine best.
Keep products in your bag or purse to boost your scent throughout the day. Some easy options include rollerball perfume, a travel-size deodorant, and mouthwash.
