How To Pluck Your Eyebrows For The First Time

Now it’s time for the reason you’re here: learning how to pluck your eyebrows for the first time! Or the first successful time, at least. Start by getting together everything that you will need, then follow the tutorial below. You are just a little bit of practice away from flawless brows every time.

What You Will Need To Pluck Your Eyebrows

  • Spoolie
  • Eyebrow Pencil
  • Regular mirror
  • Tweezer
  • Clear Brow Mascara

1. Relax

It is essential for you to relax. A nervous, shaking hand will not be helpful. Since you’re going to be plucking your eyebrows, you want to make sure that you focus and take your time. Take a deep breath and shake off the jitters.

2. Cleanse Your Skin

Before you start plucking eyebrows, it’s essential to make sure that your skin is nice and clean.

Plucking leaves the deep layers of your skin vulnerable to any bacteria on the surface of your skin. The last thing you want is to cause blemishes or nasty infections.

It is completely possible to get a breakout around your brows. So be safe and follow your regular skincare cleansing routine before you start plucking.

3. Brush Your Brows

It’s time to get ready. Grab your spoolie, and start by brushing your eyebrows up and outward. To learn exactly what a spoolie is and find out some fabulous beauty hacks using a spoolie be sure to check out this article that I wrote.

4. Determine The Right Brow Shape

In order to pluck eyebrows correctly, you’ll need to know your face shape. This helps to determine where your brows should start and end.

To determine where the front of your brows should start, place an eyebrow pencil vertically at the side of the top of your nose, and create a mark.

Next, align the pencil with the outside of your eye’s iris and mark that spot along your brow to define your arch.

Now it’s time to focus on the tail of your brows. Line your pencil up with the outer corner of your eye and make another small mark.

Remember to do exactly the same with your other eye.

5. Outline Your Brows

Now you need to create an outline for your brows. This helps you identify which hairs you need to tweeze. Simply draw an outline of each brow using your brow pencil. Make sure to connect the marks you made when you did step 4.

6. Start Tweezing

At long last you are ready to start plucking your eyebrows.

Because you have drawn your brow shape, you can easily see which hairs are inside and outside of your outline. All you need to do is pull the hairs that don’t fall inside of your outline.

Be sure to take your time with this step. You don’t want to overpluck, and once plucked you can’t put the hairs back again.

Use your fingers to hold your skin taut as you pluck. Only pull one stray brow hair at a time. This will minimize pain and ensure accuracy.

7. Brush And Style Your Brows

Well done! You have finished the hard part.

Using your spoolie, start by brushing your eyebrows up and outward again. This is to make sure that you have beautifully shaped eyebrows and pick up any final wayward hairs that you might have missed.

To finish, pick up your clear brow gel and use the angled skinny brush in upward strokes to lock your brows in place.

Two Tips For Fixing Overplucked Brows

Have you come to the realization that you’ve overplucked your eyebrows a bit? Don’t panic we have all done it at some stage.

Rescue the situation with the following tips to help you fix your brows.

1. Grab Your Eyebrow Pencil

The only way to truly learn a new skill is to make mistakes. This applies to when you pluck your eyebrows as well.

For a quick fix, pick up your eyebrow pencil. You can use a pencil with a fine tip to draw on individual brow hairs where you shouldn’t have removed them.

2. Try An Eyebrow Gel

Remember the brow gel you used to finish off the 7 steps earlier? Use that to help fill in sparse areas in a flash.

All you need to do is lightly apply your brow gel to fill in sparse areas and use the angled brush to outline and define your brow shape. Once your brow gel is applied, comb through your brows with your spoolie, and you’re done.
