We all know that false eyelashes make a big difference to your overall beauty look.
Irrespective of whether you want full, natural-looking lashes or something more dramatic, the right pair of false lashes will get the job done.
You may be used to tossing your false eyelash set in the bin after a night out. The good news is that you can reuse them as long as you know how to clean your false lashes.
How To Clean False Lashes
If you clean your fake eyelashes properly, you will be able to flaunt your false lashes a few more times. follow these simple steps and learn how.
Here is the 6-step routine to help you learn how to clean false eyelashes like a pro.
Wash Your Hands
Before you touch up a set of false eyelashes, it’s essential that you wash your hands.
You don’t want any dirt, oil, or impurities to transfer to your falsies lashes. If you don’t you run the risk of an eye infection.
So wash your hands thoroughly and get ready for the second step.
Remove Eyelash Glue Or Adhesive
You need to ensure that you remove any glue from the base of your eyelashes.
The easiest way to remove glue is to use a salon-quality set of tweezers and gently remove the adhesive you can see without pulling at your false lashes.
If there’s stubborn glue that won’t come off, use a little oil-based eye makeup remover to break it down. That is the same oil-based eye makeup remover you would use to get the lashes off your eyes.
Clean Your False Eyelashes
Once the eyelash glue is removed, it’s time to thoroughly clean your false lashes.
This is to remove any makeup that ended up your false lashes, mascara for example, as well as other impurities that gather on your lashes. After all the role of eyelashes is to prevent impurities from getting into your eyes.
Place your false eyelashes on a paper towel, then saturate a cotton swab with Micellar Cleansing Water.
Gently wipe the base of your lashes and the false lash “hairs” to lift and remove leftover mascara, dirt, and excess oils for a thorough cleansing.
If you have mink eyelashes, use pharmacy grade distilled water instead. Eye makeup remover can potentially ruin the look of your mink lashes. Use a cotton swab dipped in distilled water to wipe the lashes clean, but don’t submerge them or else your expensive mink lashes will clump and be ruined.
Dampen Your Eyelashes
This is an extra precaution to ensure that your lashes are thoroughly clean. Get a small bowl of warm water and dampen another cotton swab and use it to wipe from the base of your lashes to the ends.
I use pharmacy/medical grade distilled water for this as an extra precaution.
Once you are satisfied that your lashes are properly clean, leave your lashes on the paper towel to air dry.
Mist Your False Lashes With Alcohol
Now that your lashes are nice and clean, they need to be disinfected.
Anything that goes near your eyes can be a breeding ground for bacteria. You want to ensure that you keep your lashes in good shape.
Lightly mist your lashes with rubbing alcohol, then lay them flat to dry.
Store Your False Lashes
Now that your cleansing session finished completely hassle-free, it’s time to store your lashes properly.
All you have to do is place your false eyelashes back in the packaging they came in, in their original position. That will ensure that they maintain their shape.
When you are ready to reuse the lashes, the application process will be easy.
How Many Times Can You Reuse Your False Eyelashes
The reason why you learned how to clean fake lashes was so that you can reuse them.
The number of times that you will be able to glue and un-glue your eyelashes comes down to the type of lashes you’re using.
False eyelashes made out of synthetic material can be reused up to five times.
However, if you’re working with expensive mink eyelashes, you can reuse them up to 20 times.
In both cases, it you handle your lashes with care, you’ll be able to wear your false lashes more times than you thought possible. This makes them a more budget-friendly beauty investment than they might first appear.
How To Reapply False Eyelashes
Instead of buying a new set of false eyelashes every time, your clean set of lashes will get the job done just as well.
Even better though, the application process will be even easier than the first time you put them on.
That is because there will be no trimming or bending the lashes to get the perfect fit because you have already done that.
All you need to do is remove your falsies from the packaging, apply glue to the base, and wait for it to get tacky. Once the glue is nice and tacky, place the lashes on your lash line with your fingertips or tweezers.
