Girly Is My Reason

Both Candace and I enjoy fitness. I’m surrounded by mountains and trails so it makes sense that trail running is an almost daily part of my life. Getting out in the fresh air and sunshine of a mountain trail in my skort and sports bra lifts my spirits.

A spin-off from getting a daily workout in is that I find it easier to put in the effort to make myself girly, even at my age. Even if I am working from my home office, I’ll wear a nice dress or skirt and top and do my makeup as if I was heading out to work.

Keeping fit is a part of being girly for me. I hope that in my small way I help motivate some of you to be healthy and girly too. Hugs.

I have many reasons why I exercise as often as I do.  For one, it’s my hobby.  It’s what I do for “me” time.  A second reason is simply for health.  I’m no bodybuilder or powerlifter.  I exercise for life, not for any particular sport.  A third reason is a therapy for an injury (i might tell about that some other time).  A fourth reason is the joy of progress.  I’m sure there are plenty of others that I could list, but there is at least one that serves as much for my inspiration, motivation, and excitement over-exercise…

Girliness is my inspiration.

Let me be clear, I’m no sissy in my workouts.  I hit it hard.  Because of certain injuries, there are things I can’t do anymore, like deadlifts and heavy squats.  But I hit the gymnastic rings and kettlebells hard.  And even though I try to build or maintain muscle, my intent is girly at the heart of it.

I like being fit and I love being fit in my girly workout clothes.  Working out gives me some “me” time as I said before.  And that means Gym Bunny Candie time.  Cute sneakers, panties, sports bra, leggings, and tight-fitting tank tops.  There’s nothing like grinding out some heavyish snatches or weighted pullups in my girly gear. It’s something I look forward to every day.  Because of that, it keeps me going.

Yet, it’s more than the actual workout.  There is an extension that runs from my workout to my girliness through the day.  It establishes a girly mindset, posture, inflections, and gestures.  Ironically, hard workouts help me be feminine.  And because of that, it does not bother me in the least to be fit for a guy with broad shoulders and chest.

That might sound like a contradiction, but that’s only because our culture shouts that men are the rough, tough, strong, ones–and they should show it.  That’s not true.  It is true that men can be rough, tough, and strong, but so can women.  And just as surely as a woman can be rough tough and strong while maintaining femininity, a guy can also be the same.

Those characteristics don’t belong to a set gender.  They belong to those who choose them even if they might seem like contradictions.  And I have the right to decide how that translates into my life.  For me, it’s toward girliness.  Yeah, that’s strange, but use the imagination.

There’s so much more that I’d love to say, but I just can’t seem to find the words and I’m already behind on my workout.

Have a wonderful day my beautiful girlies!

I stay in shape by trail running. When I am not writing posts to help you be as feminine as you can be, I work as a therapist.
