Fall is a Reason for a Girly Season

As much as we all love the warmth of summer and the lazy, hazy vacation days that go along with it, fall is still my favorite from a style/fashion perspective.

Thanks to my years as a swimmer, I have an inverted triangle body shape. This means that I know all about the struggles of having broad shoulders that don’t look good in delicate strappy tops (and strapless tops) that make up most of summer fashion. That’s what I love about fall. My scooped neckline and V-neck tops suddenly become an option and if I want to look elegant for a date night, I can wear a choker top.

All of my tops for fall have covered shoulders so at least my swimmer shoulders can look narrower and more feminine. How about you? Do you also enjoy the fall fashion options that allow you to cover up a little more and get away with wearing something a little girlier that people around you won’t notice so easily? Comment below. Hugs.

As much as I wish to be lying on the beach in a bikini, soaking in the sun’s rays, and working on some sexy tan lines, it’s just not going to happen for this boy and his old-man dad-tan.  I am completely jealous of girly summer fashion, but let’s face it, people (in a traditional sense) don’t have much stomach for cute little girly outfits on athletic men. I think that I could rock it out in some cut-off shorts and a spaghetti strap tank, but I doubt many people would fuel my girly ego, even if I was completely hair free.

Fall, on the other hand, is another story, another season, a time when our panties selves have opportunity to shine on those cooler overcast days.  Opportunities to spice up the androgyny begin to shake free and the weather is still warm enough that the gym bunny body isn’t confined to over-stuffed clothing.

How great it is to slide into my yoga pants and a long-sleeve ladies’ hoodie and walk the golf course next to our house as the sun begins to rise.  No one blinks an eye because it’s all about being warm—as long as nobody makes out the lines of my compression sports bra.  How delightful it is to pull out my ladies’ Sorel boots (a fall fashion must) paired with some cute jeans and maybe a women’s flannel shirt. And what girly boy can resist the opportunity to slide into some comfy fleece sweats or a sweater and curl up on the porch swing, covered with a blanket, and drinking coffee (preferred Irish) or hot cocoa (that can be Irish too)?

There are, of course, some things that I could never pull off.  I’d love to wear skinny jeans with knee high boots, a cute long-sleeve shirt, and a vest.  It’s a popular style among the ladies, but I’d probably look like Han Solo (or perhaps a Hannah Solo).  At the same time, there are some options that I know work well for me that don’t work in the warmer months.  I get to go hiking in my ladies’ Eddie Bauer Guide Pro pants, maybe coupled with a tomboy-leaning ladies’ ¾ raglan t-shirt.  As well, with cooler weather outside, even my own kids are not surprised if I lounge around the house on a movie night in my leggings and thick fluffy socks.  Cuddling up with the misses is always nice like that! Leggings-on-leggings can be quite ero…”nice”.

As girly-inclined as we boys might be, unless we can unashamedly put ourselves out there, feminine options are rather thin.  Yet, for those of us who are subtler, there are times of the year where the closet doors swing open a little wider, offering femininity her rightful space. And that’s why I adore the fall. As the trees shake their summer clothing, and the days grow shorter, Candie gets a small time-frame of greater freedom and self-expression.

I wish for you all to have more opportunities for your girly selves, regardless of the time of year. I think that’s what we all wish for each other.  We all yearn for feminine expression whether great or small.  So, don’t let what chances that become available for you pass you by—especially in the Fall season.  In my opinion, Fall is definitely the reason for a girly season.

Much love to you, bunnies

I stay in shape by trail running. When I am not writing posts to help you be as feminine as you can be, I work as a therapist.
