I am sure that’s a beauty look you are hoping to achieve, You may want to think about adding an eyelash curler to your makeup bag. If you’ve never used a lash curler before, you may feel a bit intimidated by the strange-looking contraption. There is no need to feel like that. Eyelash curlers are actually pretty easy to use. Below, I'll show you how to use a lash curler as part of your eye makeup routine quickly and easily. How to use an eyelash curler? Only use the curler on completely clean lashes. If you have eye make up on, it will gunge up the white elastic in the curler and then transfer that gunge back to your lashes in ugly clumps. Hold the lash curler up to your eye. While your eye is open, open the curler. Place your lashes between the clamps.Close the clamp on your eyelashes and hold it for a few seconds, then release. Do this three times, first get as close to the base of your lashes as you can without pinching your eyelid. Then do the same at about halfway between the base and the tip of your lashes. And finally, repeat once more at the tips for a complete curl. Remove Any Remaining Eye Makeup It baffles me why girls even think of curing their lashes after having done their mascara. You will be far better off beginning with clean, bare lashes. That’s because curling lashes that are already coated in mascara can leave you with a crusty, gunky curler and make it harder to use. What's more, no matter how well you try and clean your curler afterward, some of the gunk always stays behind and transfers to your lashes next time. Since we’re sure we can all agree that’s a situation worth avoiding, remove any eye makeup you might be wearing before grabbing your lash curler. Simply hold a cotton pad soaked in purifying micellar water, like the L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser Waterproof - All Skin Types, over your eyelids for a few seconds, then wipe to remove any eye makeup that may be lingering on your lashes. Micellar water is a convenient cleansing option, as it doesn’t require any rinsing. Curl Your Lashes Like This OK, now you’re ready to pick up your eyelash curler! Here’s how to use it: Hold the lash curler up to your eye. While your eye is open, open the curler. Place your top lashes between the clamps. But some girls are expert lash curlers and do both top and bottom. Add Eyeshadow And Eyeliner First If you are doing a no-makeup look, skip this step or use natural colors. If you are doing your eye makeup then you want to apply eye shadow and eyeliner before mascara. Mascara leaves your lashes damp and sticky for a while so you will end up with eyeshadow fallout covering your lashes. Girl, there is no need for that kind of hassle in your femme life. I sweep a neutral shadow from the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow collection onto my lids. Then I use L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof, Up to 24HR Pencil Eyeliner in Black for an invisible eyeliner effect. This technique, called tight-lining, is created by gently pulling up on your eyelid and lining directly on your upper waterline. Put On Lash Primer Before Mascara This is something that I never used to do. I never really saw the point. Then a friend challenged me to put primer on one set of lashes before mascara. By the end of that first day, I was convinced. Mascara went on smoothly and clump-free on the lashes with primer and I also didn't need to touch up my mascara on those lashes just about every time I went to the bathroom. I use a single coat of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Primer/Base before applying mascara. Apply Mascara Then Apply More At last, it’s time for mascara. Place the brush at the base of your lashes, then gently sweep up to the tip, being sure to completely coat your lashes. The other great part about the primer that I use is that it is pink. The way I am sure that I have got a full coat of mascara is when I have covered up any visible pink from the primer. For an added boost of boldness, brush on an extra coat. I use L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara. How Not To Use An Eyelash Curler Now you know how to use your eyelash curler. However, we need to go over a couple of things to not do with your eyelash curler. Here are some never-ever things you need to keep in mind. Never-Ever #1: Skip Cleaning Your Curler Neglecting to clean your curler can lead to an eye infection. Make sure to add your eyelash curler to your list of makeup tools that need regular cleaning. Wash it with soap and water and you will be good to go. Never-Ever #2: Curl Your Lashes After Applying Mascara We already covered this earlier about using a curler on lashes that still have makeup gunks up your curler but there is another equally important reason. freshly applied mascara makes your lashes stiffer. So, curling after mascara can actually crack your lashes. You would never dream of cutting your lashes, so don't do anything that will break them either. Never-Ever #3: Forget To Curl Upward Lots of times, girls will just clamp their lash curler over their lashes. But gently pulling the curler upwards will give your lashes an instant lift along with some added curl. Never-Ever #4: Keep The Same Curler Forever Lash curlers aren’t the type of product you can keep forever. Over time, the pads that help curl your lashes will wear out. You know this has happened when you notice that your curl isn’t quite as nice. With some lash curlers, you can buy replacement pads so that you can keep your curler for longer.
