When it comes to the world of wigs it is easy to feel overwhelmed by all the different options. To help us all understand wigs a little better I introduce to you Miss Murder of Murderous Wigs who is putting together a short series of articles about wigs. In this first article, she will be explaining the key differences between wigs so that we can make the best choice when we go wig shopping. At the end of the article, there will be a link to the Murderous Wigs website which is packed with even more information about wigs. Let’s hear what Miss Murder has to say…
There are so many different wigs out there, so how are you supposed to know which type is the right one for you?
Well, my name is Miss Murder and I am the owner of Murderous Wigs. I’m here today to show you some of the differences in wig types to help you better learn what works for you!
Shall We Get Started With Capless And Closure Wigs
Awesome! Let’s take a look at the first type of wig we will be talking about today, capless wigs!
Light and airy in construction, the capless wig is a design that you can definitely slip on quickly and go! With its ultimate breathability, most new wig wearers decide on this wig type. This wig is also great for people with larger head sizes because it has a great ability to stretch! Downside? it can be really obvious it’s a wig because of its completely sewn production.
Moving on, to my personal favorite to wear, the closure wigs! Whether it’s a 4×4 or a 5×5, this wig offers an area that is lace to give you a more realistic look.
The difference between four and five in this wig type is the section of lace, in inches. A 4×4 offers a four-inch by four-inch space of lace to allow you free parting and a 5×5 offers a five-inch by five-inch space of lace. The wider this section, the easier it is to wear side parts.
Definitely, a wig you can slip on and go in as well, while also offering the maximum in realistic results! As a personal wearer of these wigs, I can attest to the fact that these wigs are quite comfortable.
This is an example of a 5×5 closure wig, note the lace section at the top of the head.
The Common T-Part Wig.
The T-part wig is as simple as it sounds, the section that you get to part is only a 1-inch strip going back that allows parting. Not my personal choice because it lacks all freedom.
So unless you’re sure that you rock middle parts, I would avoid this style of wig.
Still, though, it’s among the simpler styles of wigs that you can slip on and go.

Learn All About The Popular Lace Front Wig.
Also known as 13×4 or 13×6. Please be advised that a lot of sellers mark these wigs as glueless when they are in fact not. Some sellers will even go as far as to leave out the words “lace front” altogether and simply use the numeric name.
So, what is the difference between 13×4 and 13×6? Well, it’s actually simpler than it sounds. All lace front wigs have a 13-inch ear-to-ear lace hairline. The difference between four and six is how deep that lace piece goes back. The four-inch has less overall lace than the six.
Warning! Make Sure You Can Secure Your Wig
You will need some type of product to secure the lace along the front hairline to your face. Whether it’s a strong hairspray, a lace melting spray, or full-on lace adhesive, you cannot properly wear a lace front wig without something securing it.

All About The Fantastic 360 Full Lace Wig
Doesn’t sound so scary, does it? Full lace? Oh, it may not be intimidating for the seasoned wig installer, but don’t think lightly about this wig style, it’s not for the faint of heart.
Ultimate breathability. Ultimate realistic look. Ability to wear high pony tales. The 360 full lace wig gives you everything you could ever want! Realistic in every single way, with proper installation it’ll look as if it’s your own natural hair that you can free part and completely freestyle!
Ready for the other shoe to drop?
Okay, fine.
Aside from being the most expensive wig type, it’s also the hardest to install. Yes, I said install for a reason. Without someone to help you, it’s very very difficult to install one of these.
Please, please be careful if choosing this wig type. Make sure the product you’re buying says 360 FULL LACE WIG. Many companies advertise their wigs as full lace, but if you look at the construction of the inner cap you should see lace along the entire hairline of the wig, including in the back.

Which Wigs Are Easiest For A New Girl To Work With
So, how would I rate these wigs on an overall scale of “easiness”?
