7 Beauty Products to Keep at Your Desk

We spend so much of our time at our desks working that they can often serve as a place to do a little touch-up beautifying. I am not suggesting that you keep the entire contents of your makeup bag at work and turn your desk into a complete makeup vanity. However, having just a couple of items at your desk will be enough for touch-ups or in the case of beauty emergencies.

The 7 beauty products every girl should keep at her desk:

  • Have red lipstick on hand
  • Keep concealer at your desk
  • Versatile nude eyeliner is a must-have
  • Keeping deodorant at work is essential
  • Use face mist to rejuvenate mid-afternoon
  • Fend off returning frizz with hair cream
  • You can never go wrong with spare hair elastics

Let’s look at how these 7 beauty essentials can keep you looking your best while at your work desk.

Have Red Lipstick On Hand

Have you ever jumped out of bed 30 minutes late and rush to work in a complete blind panic that you would be late? I know that I have, more than once. The easiest way to catch up on the lost half-hour is by skipping on makeup.

The quickest thing to do when you do get to your desk is swipe on a quick coat of red lipstick. I keep a tube of the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Enamel Red on hand for office emergencies.

In addition, a basic tube of red lipstick can serve more than one purpose. You can also use it to color correct dark circles. Blend a small amount under your eyes, then cover the lipstick with a concealer. And just like magic, your overslept dark circles have gone.

I have even used my red lipstick as a blush as well.

Keep Concealer At Your Desk

As you will likely have learned already you will need a concealer in order to complete the color correcting hack that I’ve just mentioned.

The other reason to keep concealer at your desk is for what the product was intended. It can easily happen that you can be going for drinks with a girlfriend straight from work or even have a hot date set up. What if you have a pimple to pop up by the end of the workday? You’ll be stuck and feeling self-conscious all evening unless you have concealer within reach for a quick cover-up.

I keep the L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer in my desk drawer.

Versatile Nude Eyeliner Is A Must-Have

Many girls look for the opportunity to rock their cat-eye, created with liquid eyeliner. However, that might not be an appropriate look for an office setting. However, nude eyeliner is a completely different story.

Remember my earlier scenario of oversleeping, then arriving at work looking tired and jaded. You’ve used your red lipstick/concealer hack to color correct any dark circles under your eyes. Next, you’ll put nude eyeliner on your lower waterline to instantly look more awake.

It will only take about a minute to apply. One moment your eyes look tired and worn out, the next instant they appear bigger and brighter. To ensure that your nude eyeliner is long-lasting, pick a waterproof option, or else you’ll be forced to reapply all day long.

However, your nude eyeliner has more uses than just as eyeliner. I wrote a whole post on the beauty hacks for nude eyeliner. You can find that here.

My choice is the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Eyeliner in Nude.

Keeping Deodorant At Work Is Essential

I know that this is far less glamorous than the beauty products that I’ve just been telling you about. That doesn’t make it any less important.

I can remember times when I was younger that I had gotten to work and suddenly realize that I had somehow forgotten to put on deodorant in my mad rush of the morning. I would then be super aware of my body odor for the rest of the day and hope that my co-workers wouldn’t smell it too.

Being sporty has also made me realize that my deodorant seldom keeps me protected all day – especially in summer when I drink more water.

Neither a travel-size deodorant spray nor a roll-on take up very much space so keep one on hand.

Use Face Mist To Rejuvenate Mid-Afternoon

Many people keep drinking coffee all through the afternoon as a pick-me-up. I find that coffee so late in the day messes up my sleep patterns and just makes the next day start a bit worse.

Too much coffee also tends to dehydrate my skin, making me look more tired than I am.

An alternative option to keep yourself going when mid-afternoon comes around is to spritz your face with a refreshing face mist.

Don’t be surprised if some co-workers start asking for a spray too.

Fend Off Returning Frizz With Hair Cream

If you live in a fairly humid climate like I do then the fight to fend off hair-frizz doesn’t stop when you leave your house in the morning.

When conditions are really humid it can go on all day. If your hair also tends to fizz then it will always be a good idea to have a hair cream for frizzy hair at your desk.

You Can Never Go Wrong With Spare Hair Elastics

We all know the feeling of having our hair in our face and getting more than a little irritating. Having a hair tie on hand to pull your hair into a messy bun or ponytail would be very useful.

That’s why I suggest having a few hair elastics at your desk. While you’re at it, you can’t go wrong with a couple of barrettes either, especially if your hair is still short.

Then there is the other useful hack where your hair elastics can save the day.

If for some reason you need to wash your face while at work, the last thing you want is some water to trickle from your hand up under the sleeve of your blouse. A toweling hair elastic around each wrist will solve the problem.

When it comes to my choices for makeup and beauty products, I only use  L’Oréal Paris (Available on Amazon). I have really sensitive skin and never once have I had any negative reaction to any L’Oréal product.
