6 Baby Powder Hacks For Your Beauty Routine

On more occasions than I would like to admit I’ve run out of one of my beauty products unexpectedly. That is why I keep some multi-purpose products on hand to avoid any fuss or panic. Baby powder is one of those.

Here are 6 ways you can use baby powder to hack your beauty routine:

  • Baby powder helps prevent chafing
  • Baby powder protects your fake tan from rubbing off
  • Baby powder as an alternative for dry shampoo
  • Baby powder can refresh smelly shoes
  • Use baby powder before your at-home waxing session
  • Baby powder keeps you cool and dry

Let’s study each of these baby powder uses so that you can have a ready hack on hand and not get caught out.

Baby Powder Helps Prevent Chafing

We all love to show off our gorgeous legs during the summer months, but wardrobe choices can make chafing a reality. If you’ve dealt with chafed skin in the past, then you know that it can be an absolute pain to deal with.

Thankfully, a sprinkle of baby powder can help reduce friction as your skin rubs together or against clothing. So, there’s no need to trade in your pretty skirts, cute shorts, or dresses for pants.

You can show your gorgeous legs with no fear of chafing.

Baby Powder Protects Your Fake Tan From Rubbing Off

Having beautifully bronzed skin is one of the most sought-after beauty traits. Yet the sun can damage our skin, making fake tan a viable alternative.

Yet if you love to hit the gym or go for a run as much as I do, then you may be looking for tips to stop sweat from ruining your fake tan.

This is where your baby powder can work its magic. Not only does this product help to eliminate the risk of friction, but it can also soak up sweat to prevent your tan from transferring onto your clothes and becoming patchy.

Now that’s what I call a win-win for your workouts.

Baby Powder As An Alternative For Dry Shampoo

If you are sporty like I am or the midsummer heat has your hair feeling less than fresh between washes, dry shampoo will do the job for you.

However, maybe you have run out of dry shampoo or don’t have access to any. That doesn’t mean that you can’t fix greasy-looking strands while on the go. Baby powder can definitely save the day.

Apply a light coating onto your roots and the rest of your hair. Brush through your strands. You’ll find that this method works just as well as your favorite dry shampoo.

Remember though if you have dark hair, you may find that you need to put a little elbow grease into seamlessly blending the product throughout your mane. Only use a small amount of baby powder or your hair will look gray.

Baby Powder Can Refresh Smelly Shoes

Having damp feet can easily cause your shoes to be a little on the smelly side. There is no need to be embarrassed as it can happen to anyone.

A great way to easily fix the problem is to dust a small amount of baby powder into your shoes. This will help absorb odors and leave a refreshing scent. It will also help you slide your feet into your shoes more easily.

If you find that your sneakers have an odor after a workout session, simply keep a bottle of baby powder in your gym bag for easy access and sprinkle some into your shoes as you take them off, before stashing them in your gym bag.

The way I stumbled upon this hack was during my days of racing triathlon. I would put a liberal amount of baby powder in my socks and cycling shoes so that I could put them on easily when my feet were wet after the swim. The same went for my triathlon running sneakers. I noticed that the triathlon end of my shoe closet smelled way better so I started adding some baby powder to my other shoes too.

Use Baby Powder Before Your At-Home Waxing Session

Learning how to do at-home waxing is pretty easy. However, it can become a frustratingly long process if you’re prone to sweating. That’s because wax doesn’t stick to moist/damp hair.

By now you know that baby powder does an amazing job of absorbing sweat. If you sweep some baby powder on your skin it will save lots of time and frustration during your next waxing session.

When I did this it was the end of needing to re-wax the same area to achieve stubble-free skin.

Baby Powder Keeps You Cool And Dry

Waking up hot and sweaty is not only an uncomfortable experience but also somehow makes you feel less rested.

If you don’t have air conditioning, you may think that hot, sweaty nights will be your new normal.

The good news is that you can get some relief with the help of baby powder. Dust some between your bedsheets and pillowcases. That will soak up sweat and even makes me feel cooler when I get into bed.
